Abbott has integrated its Libreview software with Epic’s electronic health record (EHR) system, allowing clinicians across the U.S. to seamlessly access real-time glucose data from patients using Libre continuous glucose monitors (CGMs). The collaboration aims to reduce the time healthcare providers spend retrieving patient glucose information and enhance care coordination by embedding sensor data directly into medical charts used by more than 575,000 U.S. providers.
The partnership signals Abbott’s ambition to expand connectivity across its device ecosystem, enhancing usability and adoption as competition intensifies in the CGM market. With over 6 million users globally and strong Q1 CGM sales, Abbott continues to rival Dexcom, which is also exploring innovations like smart wearables, AI integration, and insulin pump connectivity to reach new diabetes and wellness markets.
