Lumicell Awarded $400K Grant from NIH to Develop Cancer Detection Platform
Lumicell has secured a $400,000 research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to develop a cutting-edge endoscopic imaging platform. The grant, awarded through the National Cancer Institute's Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program, will fund the creation of a flexible endoscope integrated with Lumicell's fluorescence imaging technology, Lumisight. This device aims to detect cancerous lesions in patients with Barrett’s esophagus in real-time.
Barrett’s esophagus, a precursor to esophageal cancer, can progress without early detection, making this new platform a potential game-changer in cancer prevention. Lumicell, known for its FDA-approved breast cancer detection tool, is expanding its groundbreaking technology to new areas of oncology.
